Study Three

Samuel Wroe enrolled on the programme because he wanted to improve his life. He was also finding it so hard to find a suitable job to support his family.

Samuel had previously worked before on a low rate salary, since then he was unable to find work and was unemployed for more than two years.
Samuel wanted to change his life by improving his skills and abilities, which will help him have a better chance of gaining a well-paid job.

At the initial meeting prior to being enrolled on the programme, our staff communicated with the Samuel and explained to him the details of the programme and what he will gain by attending and the levels of supports available, as well as, how he and his family members can access these supports.

Samuel was encouraged and recommended to attend the SIA Training and First Aid courses. Both of these are professional courses. Samuel attended the courses and has developed his professional skills to qualify as a SIA officer. Samuel was also supported by our staff to apply for his SIA Security badge and the application was successful. He also attended the employability skills development programme and he had his CV prepared.

As a result of his training at Dominion, Samuel has succeeded on obtaining a full time employment, as a security officer at a well-known company in Wakefield. He is much happier and content with his achievement that he wants to improve himself further in the near future. He is eager to undertake the level 3 First Aid Qualification.

Having benefited so much through the support for families programme, Samuel has encouraged and recommended his brother, Ian Wroe and Ian’s wife Stacey Wroe to come on the programme.

Ian and Stacey have both been unemployed for the past ten years. Having heard about Samuel success, Ian and Stacey felt that this programme could also help them to improve their lives.

They were both enrolled on the programme and attended on both SIA training and first Aid courses. Ian and Stacey have passed both of their courses and have received their certificates, they are passionate about working and are actively looking for jobs, their aspirations and motivations for employment have greatly increased. They have also taken part in the employability skills development classes.

It has been a very great process to see Samuel, Ian and Stacey improve their lives from having no professional qualifications to seeing them feel excited about the having a brighter future. By being able to support their wives and children in the area of education, bills payments, having enjoyable social life and having a good salary at the end of the month.
